Dieter Cantu is an Associate with Justice System Partners and a dedicated community organizer, activist, and social entrepreneur, with a focus on reforming systems that perpetuate inequality, particularly in the juvenile justice space. Drawing from his own experiences as a youth impacted by both the juvenile and child welfare systems, he has worked tirelessly to address the disparities that affect marginalized youth. Dieter’s approach is rooted in a strategic, multidisciplinary framework that includes cross-sector collaboration, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices. He  has been pivotal in the closure of youth prisons and advancing legislation aimed at comprehensive juvenile justice reform. His advocacy has successfully contributed to the passage of key legislative measures, focusing on transforming the juvenile justice system towards rehabilitation, and empowerment for system-impacted youth.
