Kristen Nielsen is the Management Coordinator for JSP. Ms. Nielsen has worked in the criminal justice field for more than 20 years and is a highly skilled business manager. At JSP, her role includes supporting the administrative infrastructure, project management, and systems development. She began her career in the social work field, spending eight years working with individuals in county, state, and federal custody in pre-release and reentry settings. During her social work career, Ms. Nielsen worked as a Case Manager, Assistant Clinical Coordinator, Program Director and Therapist.
After leaving the social work field and before joining JSP, Ms. Nielsen was the Business and Contracts Manager at the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI). In this capacity, she was responsible for oversight of all CJI budgets and contract management for local, state, and federal awards including budget tracking and ensuring all funder requirements were met. She oversaw budget development, monitoring, and forecasting for CJI’s annual consolidated budget, as well as for all individual project budgets. Ms. Nielsen received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Northeastern University and her Masters in Social Work from New York University.
