Senior Associate

Cherrell Green is a Research Associate at Justice System Partners (JSP) and earned her PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Broadly her research examines the intersections of race, crime and justice and community violence and trauma. Using qualitative research methodology Cherrell explores how structural violence shapes and perpetuates inequity in the lives of marginalized Black Americans.

Prior to JSP, Cherrell served as a research associate on the Greater Justice New York team at the Vera Institute of Justice, which focuses on addressing the drivers of mass criminalization and mass incarceration in New York State. She managed all qualitative research activities and initiatives by engaging in both long-term and rapid response policy research and writing for legislative advocacy to advance decarceration, pretrial and parole reform in New York State. Her skills include facilitating interagency communication, strategic planning, and program design and evaluation. A passion for racial justice, Cherrell draws on her extensive experience of community-based research and participatory methodologies for engaging vulnerable communities and justice-impacted individuals.
